Hoʻāla Hou Program - "Renewing a Pathway to Student Success Through Culture-Based Learning"
Hoʻāla Hou means to revitalize or rejuvenate.
Ka Papa ʻŌlani - Cohort 2, 2017-2018
ʻŌlani is translated as "to roast over a fire, broil, warm in the sunlight." ʻŌlani is an important ʻili (Hawaiian land division) in the Kapālama ahupuaʻa.
Hoʻāla Hou Program Goals:
To establish an enrollment pathway to Honolulu Community College for Native Hawaiian students and to create a sense of place at the college for Native Hawaiians that is culturally significant and relevant.
To create a cuture and place-based training program for faculty, staff, and administrators aimed at infusing Hawaiian culture, traditions, and values in teaching, learning, and service in order to support student success and completion.
