This is a course guide to assist students with assigned video viewing.

FILMS ON DEMAND Streaming Videos

This resource is a web-based digital video delivery service that allows you to view streaming videos anytime, anywhere, 24/7. Choose from more than 20,000 educational titles in dozens of subject areas.

Films On Demand - Minimum System Requirements

If you are experiencing issues with videos, please make sure you meet all minimum requirements: (Updated July 26, 2016)

Windows

  • Processor: 2.33GHz or faster x86-compatible processor or x64 1.6-gigahertz (GHz) or higher processor
  • Operating System: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10
  • RAM: 2-4GB recommended
  • Video Card: 128 MB minimum
  • Browser: Firefox, Safari 8 (or newer), Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 10 (or newer), Microsoft Edge
  • Screen Resolution: 800 x 600 minimum (1280 x 1024 recommended)
  • 16-bit sound card
  • Speakers/headphones
  • Javascript and cookies need to be enabled
  • Broadband Internet Connection

Mac

  • Processor: Intel Core™ Duo 1.83GHz or faster processor
  • Operating System: Mac OSX v 10.6 or higher
  • RAM: 512 MB minimum (2-4GB recommended)
  • Video Card: 128 MB minimum
  • Browser: Firefox, Safari 8 (or newer), Google Chrome.
  • Screen Resolution: 800 x 600 minimum (1280 x 1024 recommended)
  • 16-bit sound card

Accessing resources from off-campus

The Library subscribes to many electronic resources, including Films on Demand. Access to these paid subscriptions is RESTRICTED to students, faculty, and staff of Honolulu Community College.    

Off-campus users will be prompted to login via the UH Web Login Service when attempting to connect to a database; this is considered "remote authentication."

Valid HonCC students must login with their UH username and password. (Example above) Once you have been authenticated, you will have direct access to the library e-resource you selected.

You will NOT be permitted to access any e-resources if...

  • you are not an active HonCC student, staff, or faculty member

  • your UH ID card has expired

  • you have $10.00 or more in unpaid library fines and fees

Contact the library right away if you cannot access a database or e-resource.

Films on Demand - Closed Captioning (CC)

How to find videos with Closed Captioning [CC]

  1. Go to Films on Demand.
  2. Click the Advanced Search link below the search box in the header.
  3. Under Advanced Filters, select the checkbox for "Show only CC programs."
  4. Then enter your keywords/terms into the search box to find available closed-captioned streaming videos.
  5. Click the Search button to view results.
